A. Telling Time (To the Hour and Half-Hour)
Concept of a Clock: A clock is an instrument used to tell time. Most clocks have a circular face with numbers 1 to
1
2. There are typically two main hands: Hour Hand: This is the shorter and usually thicker hand. It points to the hour.
Minute Hand: This is the longer and usually thinner hand. It points to the minutes.
Telling Time to the Hour ('o'clock'): When the minute hand (the long hand) points exactly to the number 12, the time is "o'clock." The hour hand (the short hand) will point directly to the hour.
Step 1: Locate the minute hand. If it is pointing at 12, it is "o'clock." Step 2: Locate the hour hand. The number it points to is the hour.
Example: If the minute hand is on 12 and the hour hand is on 3, the time is 3 o'clock. This could be when students return from school in some Nigerian communities.
