Lesson summary

Physical Education Lesson Note: B1 Grade 1 Overview and Learning Objectives Movement is a very important part of our lives. We move every day! Whether you're walking to school, dancing to your favourite Ghanaian song, or playing with your friends, understanding how our bodies move helps us to stay healthy, have fun, and avoid injuries. This lesson will explore different ways our bodies move and how we can move safely and effectively.

Lesson notes

Movement Concepts: These are ideas about how our bodies can move. They include things like: Running: Moving quickly on your feet. Remember to swing your arms and lift your knees! Jumping: Pushing off the ground with your feet and lifting your body into the air. Bend your knees when you land! Skipping: A combination of a step and a hop. Try alternating legs! Walking: Moving at a normal pace on foot. Crawling: Moving on your hands and knees. Directions: We can move in many directions: Forward: Moving straight ahead. Backward: Moving in the opposite direction of forward. Sideways: Moving to the left or right. Up: Moving higher (like when jumping). Down: Moving lower (like when bending down). Controlling Your Body: It's important to be able to control your body when moving. This means: Starting: Beginning a movement. Stopping: Bringing a movement to a halt. This might be sudden or gradually slowing to a stop. Changing Direction: Shifting from one direction to another. Space: This refers to the area around you. When we move, we need to be aware of the space around us to avoid bumping into things or other people. So, always be mindful of others when playing games and doing other activities. Cooperation: Working well with others and moving as a group.

Examples: Imagine you are playing a game of tag. You need to run to catch someone. You might need to change direction quickly to avoid being tagged yourself. You also need to be aware of the space around you so you don't bump into your friends. It's more fun if everyone plays and moves together with cooperation. During a football match you would be asked to run forward or backward, depending on the position of the ball. You will need to be aware of the space available so that you and your team-mate do not collide. Guided Practice (With Solutions)
