Science Lesson Note: Grade 1 - Systems Overview and Learning Objectives Hello, Class 1! Today, we are going to learn about something called "Systems." A system is simply a group of things that work together to do something. Think about it like this: your body is a system! Your heart, lungs, and brain all work together to keep you alive and healthy. Understanding systems helps us see how things are connected and how they work together in our everyday lives.

Lesson notes

What is a System?

A *system* is a group of things (or parts) that work together to achieve a goal. These things are connected and depend on each other.

Examples of Systems:

Let’s look at some examples: Our Body (Human Body System): This is a big system! It has many parts like our heart, brain, lungs, stomach, and legs. Each part does something important. Your heart pumps blood, your brain helps you think, and your lungs help you breathe. All these parts work together to keep you alive and healthy. A Bicycle (Transportation System): A bicycle is a system too. It has wheels, pedals, a chain, brakes, and handlebars. The pedals help you move the chain, which turns the wheels. The brakes help you stop. All the parts work together to help you ride. A Kitchen Firewood Stove (Cooking System): A simple cooking system includes firewood, a pot, and a stove structure. You put the wood in the stove and light it, creating fire. The fire heats the pot, and the food inside cooks. All parts are needed for you to cook food. A Classroom (Learning System): Our classroom is also a system. It has students, a teacher, desks, books, and a blackboard. The teacher teaches, the students learn, and the books provide information. They all work together to help us learn.
