B1 Grade 1 Mathematics Lesson Note: Data Collection and Representation Overview and Learning Objectives Hello, class! Today, we are going to learn about something called "data." Data is just a fancy word for information, like how many people like kenkey or how many chickens we have in our compound. Learning about data helps us understand the world around us better. We can use data to answer questions and make good decisions. Imagine we want to know which fruit is most popular in our class so we can bring more of it for snack time! That’s where data comes in handy.
What is Data?
Data is information. It could be about anything! It could be about our favorite foods, the colors of our shirts, or even the number of cars that pass by our school gate.
Collecting Data:
We can collect data by asking questions or by observing. For example, we can ask our classmates what their favorite fruit is. We can also observe how many red cars and how many blue cars drive past our school.
