Physical Education Lesson Note - B2 Grade 2 Overview and Learning Objectives Hello Class 2! Today, we're going to explore how our bodies move in different ways. Understanding movement helps us play games better, dance gracefully, and even do everyday activities like walking and running more efficiently. It's all about learning how our bodies work!
Today, we're focusing on different movement concepts and principles. Let's break them down: Movement: This simply means changing your position or location. Any time you move your body, you are demonstrating movement. Locomotor Movements: These are movements that make you travel from one place to another. Think of them as 'traveling' movements. Examples: Walking: Moving one foot at a time, putting your heel down first, and then pushing off with your toes. Like how we walk to school. Running: A faster way to travel. You lift your feet higher, and there's a moment when neither foot is touching the ground. Think of how we run during break time! Jumping: Pushing off the ground with both feet and landing on both feet. Remember jumping over puddles after it rains? Hopping: Pushing off the ground with one foot and landing on the same foot. Skipping: A combination of a step and a hop done on alternating feet. Galloping: Like a horse, one foot leads and the other follows. Non-Locomotor Movements: These are movements that you do in one spot. You don't travel from place to place. Examples: Bending: Leaning forward or sideways. Think of bending down to pick up a stone. Stretching: Reaching your arms or legs out to make them longer. Like when we stretch before playing a game. Twisting: Turning your body around from side to side. Like when we twist our bodies during warm-up exercises. Swaying: Gently moving from side to side or back and forth. Imagine swaying like a tree in the wind. Speed: How fast or slow you are moving. You can move quickly like a cheetah or slowly like a snail. Guided Practice (With Solutions)
Let's try some exercises together!
Question 1: Stand up. Now, walk from your desk to the door and back. What type of movement did you just perform? Was it locomotor or non-locomotor?
Solution: You performed a *locomotor* movement because you traveled from one place (your desk) to another (the door) and back. You were *walking*.
