Physical Education Lesson Note - Grade 3 Overview and Learning Objectives Hello, Class 3! Today, we are going to learn about physical fitness and how to keep our bodies strong and healthy. Being physically fit isn't just about playing football well; it's about having the energy to play with your friends, help your family at home, and do your best in school. In Ghana, we need strong, healthy people to build a better future for our community.

What is Physical Fitness?

Physical fitness means being healthy and strong enough to do everyday activities without getting too tired. It’s like having a full battery for your body! It means your heart, lungs, and muscles are working well together.

Components of Physical Fitness:

There are several parts that make up physical fitness. Today, we'll focus on: Cardiovascular Endurance (Stamina): This is your body's ability to exercise for a long time without getting too tired. Think about running a long distance. If you have good stamina, you can run further before needing to stop. Examples include running, swimming, and skipping. Muscular Strength: This is how much force your muscles can produce. Think about lifting a heavy object or pushing something. Examples include lifting a bag of kenkey, doing push-ups, and squats. Muscular Endurance: This is your muscles' ability to do something repeatedly for a long time without getting tired. Think about helping your mother fetch water. Examples include carrying water buckets, planking, and sit-ups. Flexibility: This is the ability to move your joints and muscles through their full range of motion. Think about bending down to pick something up. Examples include stretching your arms, legs, and back. Flexibility also helps prevent injuries.
