This lesson introduces the concept of physical fitness and why it is very important for our daily lives as Ghanaians. Being fit means our body is strong, healthy, and has enough energy to do all the things we love, like playing games such as *ampe* and football, helping our parents at home with chores like fetching water or sweeping, and concentrating well in class. We will learn about three main "powers" our body has: Heart Power (endurance), Muscle Power (strength), and Stretchy Power (flexibility). Understanding these helps us know how to keep our bodies healthy and strong for life.
This is the main content of our lesson. We will learn about the building blocks of being fit.
A. What is Physical Fitness?
Think of your body like a car. For a car to work well, it needs a good engine that can run for a long time, strong tyres, and a body that can move and turn easily.
Physical Fitness is the same for our bodies. It is the ability of your body to perform daily activities with energy and alertness, without getting too tired. A fit person can play, work, and still have energy left to enjoy other things.
