This lesson introduces learners to the exciting features of animations and slide transitions in presentation software like Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides. In Ghana, we see presentations everywhere – in our schools for project work, in churches and mosques for announcements, and even in businesses to showcase products. Learning how to add movement and effects makes our presentations more engaging, professional, and helps to keep the audience's attention on our message. This lesson moves beyond just creating slides with text and pictures to making them dynamic and interesting.
Recap: What is a Presentation?
A presentation is a way of showing information to an audience. We use software like Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides to create a set of pages called slides. Each slide can have text, pictures, charts, and more. Think of it as a digital flip chart.
Today, we will learn how to make our digital flip chart come to life! Concept 1: Slide Transitions
A slide transition is the visual effect that occurs when you move from one slide to the next during a presentation. It’s how the new slide appears on the screen. Analogy: Imagine you are reading a storybook. A transition is *how* you turn the page. Do you turn it slowly? Do you flip it quickly? Does it dissolve to reveal the next page? That "how" is the transition. Purpose: Transitions make the change from one slide to another smoother and more visually appealing. They can also set the tone of your presentation (e.g., a fast "Cut" for a serious topic, or a playful "Origami" for a fun one).
