This week, we are learning about the number six (6). Numbers are a very important part of our daily lives in Ghana. We see them when we buy things at the market, when we play games like "ampe", and even when we look at nature around us. For example, an ant has six legs! Learning about the number six helps us to count bigger groups of things and understand the world better. This lesson will focus on counting, identifying, and writing the number six.
Core Idea: The number six (6) represents a specific quantity. It comes after five (5) and before seven (7). It means five things and one more thing.
I. What is "Six"?
"Six" is the word we use for this many things: > ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪
It is one more than five. We can show this easily with our hands. First, show one full hand. Ask the learners: "How many fingers is this?" (They should know it's five). Then, raise one finger on the other hand. Say, "This is five... and one more. This makes six!" Let's count together: "One, two, three, four, five... six!"
