Lesson summary

This lesson introduces the fundamental concept of physical activity and its critical role in maintaining a healthy life. In Ghana today, as lifestyles change with more time spent on phones, watching television, and using transportation like 'Okada' or 'Trotro', understanding the importance of staying active has never been more vital. We will explore what counts as physical activity—from organised sports to everyday chores like sweeping the compound or walking to the market—and discuss its profound benefits for our bodies, minds, and social lives.

Lesson notes

A. What is Physical Activity?

Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by your skeletal muscles that requires you to use energy.

It's a very broad term. It doesn't just mean playing football or going to the gym. Think about it simply: if you are not sitting or lying down, you are likely being physically active.
