Welcome, learners, to the exciting world of Physics! Physics is the study of how the universe works, from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies. To describe and understand our world accurately, we need a special language – the language of Mathematics. In this lesson, we will sharpen the mathematical tools you learned in JHS and see how they are essential for solving real-world physics problems. Whether it's a carpenter building a roof in Kumasi, an engineer designing a bridge over the Volta River, or an athlete calculating the path of a football, the principles we learn today are everywhere. This lesson forms the foundation for nearly every topic we will study in Physics.

2.1 The Right-Angled Triangle: Our Foundation Many situations in physics can be simplified into a right-angled triangle. This is a special triangle where one of the angles is exactly 90°. Hypotenuse: The longest side, always opposite the right angle. Opposite: The side directly opposite the angle we are interested in (θ). Adjacent: The side next to the angle of interest (θ), which is not the hypotenuse. A. Pythagoras's Theorem This theorem is used when you know the lengths of two sides of a right-angled triangle and want to find the third side.

Formula: `a² + b² = c²` Where 'a' and 'b' are the two shorter sides (opposite and adjacent), and 'c' is the hypotenuse.
