Lesson summary

This lesson explores the complex relationship between robots and human society. As Ghana embraces new technologies in areas like healthcare (medical drones), finance (mobile money automation), and agriculture, it is crucial for us, the next generation of leaders and innovators, to think critically about the impact of these changes. We will move beyond the science fiction image of robots to discuss the real-world ethical questions, safety concerns, and societal shifts that come with integrating robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our daily lives.

Lesson notes

This section provides the core knowledge you will need to write your articles. We will focus on the three pillars mentioned in the curriculum: Ethics, Safety, and Coexistence. A. What is Industry 4.0?

Before we dive in, we must understand this term. Industry 4.0 (or the Fourth Industrial Revolution) is the current trend of automation and data exchange in technology. It's not just about physical robots. It includes: Artificial Intelligence (AI): Machines that can "think" and learn. The Internet of Things (IoT): A network of connected devices that collect and share data (e.g., a smart irrigation system that checks weather online). Robotics: The machines that perform physical tasks. Big Data: Analysing huge amounts of data to find patterns.

In Ghana, think of how mobile money companies use data to offer loans, or how Zipline uses GPS and logistics data to deliver medical supplies. That is Industry 4.0 in action. B. The Three Pillars of Robots & Society

To write a good article, you must understand the different sides of the argument. Let's break them down. Pillar 1: ETHICS (The "Should We?" Questions)
