Lesson summary

Welcome, future aviation professionals! Today, we delve into the workshop of an aircraft maintenance engineer. Just as a good mechanic needs the right tools to fix a car or a tro-tro, an aircraft technician needs highly specialized equipment to ensure an aircraft is safe for flight. The safety of every flight departing from Kotoka International Airport, Kumasi, or Tamale depends on skilled engineers using the correct equipment with precision. This lesson will introduce you to the essential tools and equipment that keep Ghana's aviation industry flying safely.

Lesson notes

Introduction: What is Aircraft Maintenance Equipment?

Aircraft Maintenance Equipment refers to the vast array of tools, devices, and vehicles used to perform inspections, repairs, servicing, and overhauls on an aircraft. Unlike general automotive tools, aircraft tools are often made from special materials and are designed for extreme precision and reliability. Using the wrong tool can damage a part or lead to a failure, which can have catastrophic consequences.

We can classify this equipment into four main categories:

Category 1: Hand Tools
