This lesson explores the human reproductive system, a fundamental biological system essential for the continuation of our species. Understanding this system is not just about passing examinations; it is crucial for personal health, family life, and community well-being. In Ghana, knowledge about reproduction helps us make informed decisions about family planning, prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and understand challenges like infertility. We will explore the structures, functions, and hormonal controls of both male and female systems, and see how they work with other body systems to create new life.
This topic can be broken down into five main areas: the male system, the female system, the menstrual cycle, the process from fertilization to birth, and its integration with other body systems. A. The Male Reproductive System
The primary role of the male reproductive system is to produce, maintain, and transport sperm for the fertilization of the female egg.
