Lesson summary

This week is dedicated to revising all the major topics covered in Grade 10 Electrical Technology thus far. Examination preparation is crucial for success, allowing you to consolidate your understanding, identify areas needing further attention, and build confidence. This revision is essential to equip you with the knowledge and skills to navigate the world around you, from understanding household electrical installations to potentially pursuing a career in the electrical field, a sector in high demand in South Africa's growing economy. Understanding electricity helps you become a responsible and informed consumer.

Lesson notes

2.1 Ohm's Law: Ohm's Law is fundamental to understanding electrical circuits. It describes the relationship between voltage (V), current (I), and resistance (R).

The law states: Voltage (V) = Current (I) x Resistance (R) Or, in formula form: V = I x R Where: V is the voltage measured in Volts (V) I is the current measured in Amperes (A) R is the resistance measured in Ohms (Ω)

Why it matters: Ohm's Law helps us predict how much current will flow through a circuit given a certain voltage and resistance. This is critical for designing circuits that operate safely and efficiently.
