This week, we dive deeper into the world of time and calendars! Understanding time is incredibly important for everyone, especially here in South Africa. It helps us manage our daily activities, from knowing when to catch the taxi to school or visit our gogo, to understanding important dates like Freedom Day or Christmas. Calendars help us plan for future events and keep track of important dates. We use time and calendars every single day, whether we realize it or not!

Calendars and Dates: A calendar is a system of organizing days for social, religious, commercial, or administrative purposes. Most calendars are based on the movement of the Earth around the Sun. A year is the time it takes for the Earth to complete one orbit around the Sun (approximately 365 days). Because of this, every fourth year is a leap year, with an extra day (February 29th) to account for the extra fractions of a day.
Days of the Week: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Months of the Year: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.
Number of Days in Each Month: 31 days: January, March, May, July, August, October, December 30 days: April, June, September, November 28 days (29 in a leap year): February
