Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks learners to recall a favorite story and retell it in one sentence.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

1️⃣ Definition and Discussion

πŸ“– Retelling

  • What it means:
Retelling is when learners tell the story again using their own words. This helps show understanding of the story’s events and sequence.
  • Purpose:
To ensure comprehension by recalling important details and practicing oral language skills.
  • Example:
After reading a story about a boy who found a lost puppy, a learner retells: “The boy saw a puppy in the park. He took it home and cared for it.”

βœ‚οΈ Summarizing

  • What it means:
Summarizing means telling only the most important parts of a story, usually in a few sentences, leaving out less important details.
  • Purpose:
To focus on the main idea and key points, improving concise communication.
  • Example:
For the puppy story: “A boy finds a lost puppy and takes care of it.”

πŸ” Making Inferences

  • What it means:
Making inferences is using clues from the story to figure out something not directly said.
  • Example:
Text clue: “The boy wore a raincoat.”
Inference: “It must be raining outside.”
  • Purpose:
Develops critical thinking and deeper comprehension beyond explicit information.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Text Features

  • Definition:
Text features are parts of a text that give extra information to help the reader understand better.
  • Example:
A map in a storybook shows where events happen and helps readers locate places.
  • Other examples:
Titles, headings, captions, diagrams, charts, bold words.

πŸ“š Grammar Review

  • Review key grammar concepts:
    • Possessive nouns: Show ownership (e.g., Jack’s book).
    • Apostrophes: Used in possessives and contractions.
    • Compound words: Two words joined to make one (e.g., notebook).
    • Prepositions: Words showing position or direction (e.g., on, under).
    • Sight words: Common high-frequency words to recognize quickly.

✍️ Handwriting

  • Practice writing the full cursive alphabet A–Z focusing on neatness, letter connections, and consistent size.
