Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Activity: The teacher will ask the class:
Can you name all colors and shapes you know in French?
Learner’s Role:
Respond orally and recall vocabulary
B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Role (Expanded & Detailed)
• Begin with an interactive review of all color and shape vocabulary learned so far:
– Colors: noir, jaune, rouge, bleu, vert
– Shapes: cercle, carré, triangle, rectangle
• Use flashcards or classroom objects and ask learners to say the names in French. Reinforce correct pronunciation.
• Guide learners through an art integration activity where they will create simple drawings combining both colors and shapes (e.g., a cercle rouge, a triangle bleu).
• While they work, move around the class to support pronunciation and vocabulary recall. Encourage them to speak aloud what they are drawing.
• Lead a spelling activity:
– Dictate color and shape words and have learners write them in their notebooks.
– Give spelling prompts, e.g., “Spell rectangle in French.”
• Write a few example sentences on the board for learners to copy and use as models:
Ceci est un carré jaune.
Voici un cercle rouge.
• Ask guiding questions such as: “What color is your shape?” “How many shapes do you have?” “Can you spell triangle?”
• Provide feedback and correct errors gently by modeling correct spelling and pronunciation.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded & Detailed)
• Participate in a group art activity by drawing various shapes and coloring them based on French vocabulary.
• Label their drawings using full French terms (e.g., un carré bleu, un cercle vert).
• Practice spelling during a teacher-led dictation.
• Recite all color and shape words aloud, individually or in small groups.
• Copy modeled sentences into their notebooks for reference.
• Engage in short verbal presentations:
– “This is my drawing. It has un triangle rouge and un cercle bleu.”
• Work with a partner to review each other’s work—check spelling, pronunciation, and vocabulary usage.

Assessment Checks
• Observe each student’s art piece and ensure:
– Correct color and shape vocabulary used
– Clear labels with correct spelling
– Pronunciation during oral presentations
• Review dictation and notebook entries for spelling accuracy.
• Ask individual learners questions to assess retention:
– “What shape is this?” (Hold up a flashcard.)
– “Spell cercle in French.”
– “Name a color that starts with ‘b’.”

Peer Review
• Learners pair up and:
– Check the spelling of each other’s written labels
– Practice saying their shapes and colors to each other
– Give feedback using phrases like:
C’est bien ! (That’s good!)
Tu as oublié une lettre. (You forgot a letter.)
Dis encore. (Say it again.)
• Encourage polite and supportive corrections.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed)
• Reinforce vocabulary using posters and labeled classroom objects.
• Connect French vocabulary with the learners' environment and creativity.
• Promote learning through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities.
• Emphasize speaking and writing in full descriptive phrases.
• Allow learners to make choices in their drawings to keep them engaged while using structured vocabulary.

Assignment (Homework)
• Learners will:

  1. Draw a simple scene (e.g., a house, garden, park) including at least three shapes and five colors.
  2. Label each object in French with both color and shape (e.g., un carré rouge, un triangle vert).
  3. Write two full sentences in French describing their drawing (e.g., Voici un cercle bleu. C’est un ballon.)
  4. Practice presenting the drawing aloud at home, ready to share with the class.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Evaluation Method:
Exit slip/quiz: Name three colors and two shapes in French
Follow-up Activity: Share drawings and label objects in French
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies:
Provide templates and color guides for slow learners
Challenge advanced learners to create a larger scene with detailed descriptions
