Lesson Development – ABC Model

A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Activity:

  • Recap all twelve months orally.
  • Ask students to spell a few months aloud.

Learner’s Role:

  • Participate in oral recitation and spelling.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Role (Expanded & Detailed)

  1. Conduct Copying and Dictation Exercises for All Twelve Months
    • Write the twelve months clearly on the board: Janvier, Février, Mars, Avril, Mai, Juin, Juillet, Août, Septembre, Octobre, Novembre, Décembre.
    • Read each month aloud slowly and clearly.
    • Dictate each month one by one for learners to write in their notebooks. Pause after each word to allow for writing.
    • Repeat the pronunciation of each month after dictation to reinforce correct pronunciation.
  2. Organize Spelling Games
    • Prepare scrambled letter cards for selected months or fill-in-the-blank worksheets where learners complete missing letters in the month names.
    • Divide the class into pairs or small groups to play the spelling games.
    • Encourage learners to say the month aloud while spelling it to link pronunciation with writing.
  3. Correct Pronunciation and Spelling Errors
    • Circulate around the class as learners write and play games.
    • Provide gentle correction of pronunciation during recitations.
    • Help learners correct spelling mistakes by showing the correct form on the board or flashcards.

  1. Copy Months into Notebooks
    • Listen carefully to the teacher’s dictation.
