Date: Week 1
Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Week & Period: Week 1, Period 1
Topic: Introduction to Science
Sub-topic: The Meaning of Science
Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
• Say what science means in simple words
• Mention why science is important in daily life
• Identify people who study science (scientists)
Previous Knowledge
Students already know:
• Things they see around them daily (sun, trees, animals, water)
• That people learn new things by looking, touching, and asking questions
Instructional Materials
• Chart of everyday things (plants, animals, sun, toys, food)
• Picture cards of scientists (e.g., wearing lab coat, using tools)
• Simple real objects: leaf, stone, toy car, pencil
Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
• Teacher shows a leaf and a toy car. Ask: “Which one is living? Which one is not living?”
• Allow children to answer freely.
• Teacher says: “Today we will learn about science, which helps us understand things like this.”
B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Learners’ Activities (Expanded)
Practical Classroom Activity
Assessment Checks (Expanded)
Notes (Expanded & Detailed for Pupils)
C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary:
• Teacher revises key points: Science means learning about the world. Science is important for health, food, and building. People who study science are called scientists.
• Students clap and repeat the three points together.
Evaluation Method (Expanded):
• Exit slip/quiz: Each child says one thing they learned about science today.
• Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback.
Assignment (Expanded):
• Draw one thing you see around you at home and bring it to class. Tell us if it is living or non-living.
Follow-up Activity:
• Teacher will create a “Science Corner” in class where students can bring simple objects (leaf, stone, feather, bottle cap) for discussion in future lessons.
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
• Use more pictures and real objects for learners who struggle with words.
• Pair stronger readers with those who need help.
• Encourage verbal answers for children who cannot write yet.
