Grade Level: Grade 1
Date: Week 34
Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Week & Period: Week 34, Period 6
Topic: Plane Shapes
Sub-topic: Drawing Plane Shapes

Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Draw triangles, rectangles, and circles.
  2. Use rulers and compasses to make accurate drawings.
  3. Identify sides, corners, and round edges in shapes.

Previous Knowledge
Students already know the features of triangles, rectangles, and circles.

Instructional Materials
Rulers, compasses, paper, shape cutouts.

Lesson Development – ABC Model

A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher shows shapes and asks learners if they can draw them.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Teacher demonstrates step by step:
Drawing a triangle using a ruler.
Drawing a rectangle with 4 sides using ruler.
Drawing a circle using a compass or tracing round objects.
Teacher emphasizes neatness and correct number of sides and corners.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):
Each learner practices drawing shapes on their paper. In groups, they create art pictures using only these shapes.

Assessment Checks:
Draw one triangle, one rectangle, and one circle.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):
Shapes can be drawn neatly using tools. Triangles have 3 sides. Rectangles have 4 sides with opposite sides equal. Circles are round with no sides or corners. Drawing helps learners understand shapes better.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Teacher collects drawings and reviews accuracy.

Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Draw one circle using a round object.

Assignment (Expanded):
Draw 2 triangles, 2 rectangles, and 2 circles at home.

Follow-up Activity:
Next lesson introduces fractions.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Learners who need help are given tracing activities. Advanced learners design pictures using combined shapes.
