Grade Level: Grade 1
Date: Week 5
Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Week & Period: Week 5, Period 1
Topic: Different Parts of a Game
Sub-topic: Players, Rules, Equipment, Play Area
Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Identify parts of a game including players, rules, equipment, and play area
Role-play the parts of simple games such as football, skipping, and dodgeball

Previous Knowledge
Students already know:
Basic playing skills and rules from previous lessons

Instructional Materials
Balls, skipping ropes, cones, charts of games and their parts

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Discuss favorite games and what they need to play them
Warm-up exercises: jogging, stretching, and passing a ball

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Learners observe demonstrations of different parts of a game: players, rules, equipment, and play area.
  • Learners identify each part during the demonstration and explain what they see.
  • In small groups, learners role-play as players, referees, or equipment organizers.
  • Learners ask and answer simple questions about how each part affects the game (e.g., “What happens if we have no rules?” or “Why do we need equipment?”).

Teacher’s Activities:

  • Teacher demonstrates each part of a simple game (e.g., a ball game): showing the players (who take part), the rules (what can/cannot be done), the equipment (ball, markers, ropes), and the play area (space where the game is played).
  • Teacher explains the importance of each part in making the game safe, fair, and fun.
  • Teacher guides role-play activities, ensuring learners understand their roles (e.g., a referee enforces rules, players use equipment properly).
  • Teacher encourages teamwork and praises cooperation during the activities.

Assessment Checks:

  • Teacher observes learners’ participation in the role-play and checks if they correctly use the game parts.
  • Teacher asks individual learners to list the parts of a game they know.
  • Teacher gives quick oral questions like: “Who makes sure rules are followed?” or “Why is equipment important in a game?”

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • A game cannot work well without all its parts: players, rules, equipment, and play area.
  • Rules help maintain fair play and safety; equipment makes the game enjoyable; the play area gives space; and players make the game possible.
  • Role-play builds teamwork, respect, and cooperation—important values in sports and real life.
  • Encourage learners to always follow rules, respect referees, and take care of equipment.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Recap the different parts of games and why each is important
Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Learners draw a simple game and label its parts
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded):
Observe a game at home or school and identify its parts
Follow-up Activity:
Prepare to demonstrate one part of a game in next class

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Provide adapted equipment for learners needing assistance
Use small groups to allow active participation and guidance
