By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Perform stretching, bending, squatting, and jogging in place
Participate in classroom, locomotor, and manipulative games safely

Previous Knowledge
Students already know:
Basic exercises, classroom games, locomotor skills, and manipulative skills

Instructional Materials
Mats, balls, chairs, cones, open space, music

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Lead learners in stretching and light jogging
Ask learners which exercises or games they enjoy most

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Input (Explanations, Definitions & Demonstrations):

  1. Exercises (for strength, flexibility, and fitness):
    • Stretching Arms/Legs: Stretch both arms above the head, to the side, and touch toes.
    • Bending: Bend forward to touch the ground, side-to-side bending for flexibility.
    • Squatting: Sit down halfway and stand up again to strengthen legs.
    • Jogging in Place: Run lightly on the spot while swinging arms gently.
    • Examples: Teacher demonstrates “morning stretch” like waking up, “frog squat” like a frog sitting, and “marching jog” like a soldier.
  2. Classroom Games:
    • Simon Says: Teacher gives commands beginning with “Simon says…” (e.g., “Simon says touch your toes”). Learners only act when they hear “Simon says.”
    • Musical Chairs: Arrange chairs in a circle. Learners walk around while music plays and must quickly sit when the music stops.
    • Purpose: Teaches listening skills, quick response, and fairness.
  3. Locomotor Games:
    • Tag: One learner chases others; whoever is tagged becomes “it.”
    • Hopping Race: Learners hop on one foot to a finish line. Can also try two-foot jumps.
    • Purpose: Improves balance, speed, coordination.
  4. Manipulative Games:
    • Ball Throw & Catch: Learners throw a soft ball to a partner and catch it safely.
    • Ball Kick: Learners practice kicking a ball into a marked space.
    • Purpose: Builds hand-eye and foot-eye coordination.
  5. Key Teaching Points:
    • Correct posture (straight back, bent knees when needed).
    • Rules of safety: no pushing, respect turns, use soft/child-safe balls.
    • Teamwork and encouragement of peers.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Perform each exercise step by step with the teacher.
  • Participate in Simon Says by listening carefully and following instructions.
  • Play Musical Chairs while practicing fairness (e.g., no pulling chairs).
  • Join a short round of tag and hopping race while respecting rules.
  • Pair up for ball throw-and-catch and practice safe kicks.
  • Take turns, encourage classmates, and follow safety reminders.

Assessment Checks (Expanded):

  • Teacher observes:
    • Are learners stretching and bending correctly without straining?
    • Do learners follow rules during Simon Says and Musical Chairs?
    • Are learners hopping/jogging safely and steadily?
    • Do learners throw, catch, and kick balls safely and correctly?
  • Oral Questions:
    • “What do we do if Simon doesn’t say?”
    • “Why do we need to bend our knees when squatting?”
    • “What rule do we follow when taking turns in games?”
  • Peer check: Learners explain one exercise/game rule to a partner.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Safety: Always ensure safe spacing between learners during jogging, hopping, and ball games.
  • Fair Play: Encourage turn-taking, cheering for classmates, and respecting game rules.
  • Variety: Mix physical activity with fun to keep learners active and engaged.
  • Inclusiveness: Praise effort, not only performance, so every child feels confident.
  • Reinforcement: Connect exercises and games to daily life (e.g., “Stretching helps us reach high shelves,” “Throwing a ball helps in playing football”).

Extra Practical Assignments:

  1. At Home Practice: Learners demonstrate 2 exercises (stretching and jogging in place) to a parent/guardian.
  2. Drawing Task: Draw yourself playing one classroom game (e.g., Musical Chairs).
  3. Peer Activity: Next day, learners share one rule of a game they learned with a partner in class.
  4. Challenge: Learners count how many squats or hops they can do in 30 seconds and report.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Review exercises and games
Evaluation Method (Expanded)
Exit slip/quiz: Name one game or exercise and demonstrate it
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded):
Practice one exercise or game at home
Follow-up Activity:
Teach a family member one game or exercise

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Provide simpler exercises or smaller groups for learners with limited skills
Use visual and verbal guidance
