School Name:
Teacher’s Name:
Subject: Physical Education
Grade Level: Grade 1
Date: Week 14
Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Week & Period: Week 14, Period 3
Topic: Exercises for Physical Fitness
Sub-topic: Types of Exercises

Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Identify different types of exercises
Perform stretching, running, bending, jumping, and breathing exercises

Previous Knowledge
Students already know:
Basic stretching and running skills

Instructional Materials
Mats, cones, open space, visual aids for exercises

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Lead learners in stretching arms, legs, and neck
Ask learners which exercises they enjoy doing

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Activities:

  • Explain and demonstrate different types of exercises and their benefits:
    • Stretching – improves flexibility (e.g., touching toes, stretching arms).
    • Running – builds endurance (e.g., jogging on the spot or running short distances).
    • Bending and squats – increase strength (e.g., bending knees, simple squats).
    • Jumping – improves coordination and balance (e.g., jumping jacks, hopping).
    • Breathing exercises – strengthen the lungs and give more energy (e.g., deep breathing in and out).
  • Use clear demonstrations and repeat movements slowly for learners to follow.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Perform each exercise step by step while copying the teacher.
  • Practice in pairs or small groups to improve coordination, teamwork, and confidence.
  • Take turns leading simple exercises to build confidence and participation.

Assessment Checks:

  • Observe learners to ensure they use the correct technique (e.g., bending knees properly, safe landing while jumping).
  • Ask individual learners to name one type of exercise and explain what it helps the body to do.
  • Give quick oral questions such as: “Which exercise helps our lungs?” or “Which exercise helps us become flexible?”

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Exercises should always be done safely: learners should have enough space to avoid bumping into others.
  • Remind learners to do movements gently and not rush, especially during bending and stretching.
  • Encourage learners to participate fully, praising effort as much as correctness.
  • Reinforce that different exercises help different parts of the body: flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination, and breathing.
  • Encourage learners to practice some exercises at home (e.g., stretching before bed, jogging outside, or simple breathing exercises).

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Review types of exercises and their benefits
Evaluation Method (Expanded)
Exit slip/quiz: Learners demonstrate one exercise and explain its purpose
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded):
Practice a favorite exercise daily at home
Follow-up Activity:
Create a simple exercise routine with family members

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Adapt exercises for learners with limited mobility
Provide verbal and visual instructions
