School Name:
Teacher’s Name:
Subject: Physical Education
Grade Level: Grade 1
Date: Week 16
Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Week & Period: Week 16, Period 3
Topic: Locomotor and Manipulative Games
Sub-topic: Running, Hopping, Skipping, Galloping, Throwing, Catching, Kicking, Bouncing

Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Demonstrate locomotor skills: running, hopping, skipping, and galloping
Perform manipulative skills: throwing, catching, kicking, and bouncing balls

Previous Knowledge
Students already know:
Basic movement skills and simple throwing/catching activities

Instructional Materials
Balls, cones, markers, open space

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Lead learners in jogging, hopping, and stretching
Ask learners to show a skill they enjoy performing

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Activities:

  • Demonstrate locomotor skills one by one:
    • Running (moving fast using both legs).
    • Hopping (jumping on one foot).
    • Skipping (step-hop rhythm).
    • Galloping (one foot leads while the other follows).
  • Demonstrate manipulative skills clearly:
    • Throwing a ball (using proper arm movement).
    • Catching (eyes on the ball, hands ready).
    • Kicking (using the inside of the foot for accuracy).
    • Bouncing a ball (using controlled hand force).
  • Organize practice stations where learners rotate and try each skill.
  • Give corrective guidance, praise effort, and highlight safe movements.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Rotate through different practice stations:
    • At the locomotor station: practice running, hopping, skipping, and galloping.
    • At the manipulative station: practice throwing and catching with a partner, kicking a soft ball, and bouncing balls.
  • Work in pairs or small groups to encourage team learning.
  • Encourage peers by clapping or cheering when others perform correctly.

Assessment Checks:

  • Observe learners for correct technique (e.g., balanced skipping, proper catching posture).
  • Ask learners individually:
    • “Which skill did you enjoy practicing?”
    • “Can you show us how to hop/throw/catch?”
  • Provide immediate feedback and correct errors gently.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Stress the importance of safety: no pushing, crowding, or rough handling of balls.
  • Ensure learners understand the difference between locomotor (moving the body from place to place) and manipulative (controlling an object like a ball) skills.
  • Praise learners for effort and improvement, not just perfect performance.
  • For those struggling with coordination, break the movement into smaller steps and guide them slowly.
  • Reinforce that these skills are used in sports, games, and daily life (e.g., running in races, catching in football, hopping in playground games).

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Review locomotor and manipulative skills learned
Evaluation Method (Expanded)
Exit slip/quiz: Demonstrate one locomotor skill and one manipulative skill
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded):
Practice one locomotor and one manipulative skill at home
Follow-up Activity:
Observe peers performing skills during play and discuss

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Provide smaller balls or shorter distances for beginners
Pair learners for peer support
