Previous Knowledge
Students already know:
Basic manipulative skills and outdoor game rules

Instructional Materials
Bat, soft ball, cones, open field

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Lead learners in stretching arms, legs, and wrists
Ask learners about games where they hit and throw balls

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Step 1: Explanation of the Game – Bat Ball

  • Teacher explains: “Bat Ball is an outdoor game where we hit a ball, run bases, and work together as a team. Everyone must take turns and play safely.”
  • Teacher introduces the rules in simple terms:
  1. Hitting the ball – hit gently with the bat in the right direction.
  2. Running bases – run from one base to the next safely after hitting the ball.
  3. Taking turns – each player gets a chance to bat and run.
  4. Team cooperation – help each other and encourage teammates.
  • Examples for clarity:
    • Hit the ball softly so it does not go too far.
    • Run to the next base carefully, watching for others.
    • Cheer for your friend when they hit the ball.

Step 2: Teacher Demonstration

  • Teacher demonstrates proper techniques:
    • Hitting: Hold the bat correctly and hit the ball gently.
    • Running: Run from base to base without bumping into friends.
    • Throwing/Catching: Show safe ways to throw and catch the ball.
  • Teacher emphasizes safety: “Never swing the bat near friends. Always look before running.”

Step 3: Learners’ Activities (Expanded & Practical)

  • Small Group Play: Pupils play Bat Ball in groups of 5–6.
  • Hitting Practice: Each learner gets a turn to hit the ball with proper technique.
  • Running Bases: Learners practice running safely from base to base after hitting.
  • Throwing & Catching Practice: Pupils practice throwing the ball to a partner and catching it gently.
  • Turn-Taking: Ensure all learners have equal turns batting, running, and fielding.
  • Cheering & Encouragement: Teach learners to cheer for teammates after a good hit or catch.

Step 4: Assessment Checks (Expanded)

  • Teacher observes:
    • Proper hitting technique.
    • Safe running between bases.
    • Correct throwing and catching.
    • Following the rules and turn-taking.
  • Oral questions:
  1. “What is one rule of Bat Ball?”
  2. “Why do we take turns?”
  3. “How do we run safely between bases?”
  • Learners demonstrate a correct hit and run to show understanding.

Step 5: Notes (Expanded & Detailed)

  • Focus on safety – no swinging bats near friends, watch where you run.
  • Emphasize cooperation and teamwork – help and encourage each other.
  • Highlight fair play – everyone gets a turn and follows the rules.
  • Remind learners: “Bat Ball is fun when everyone plays safely and cheers for friends.”

Extra Assignment (to reinforce learning):

  • At home or in the playground, practice throwing a ball to a sibling or friend safely.
  • Draw a picture of yourself playing Bat Ball, showing hitting, running, and cheering for teammates.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Review rules, safety, and teamwork
Evaluation Method (Expanded)
Exit slip/quiz: Demonstrate one Bat Ball skill correctly
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded):
Practice hitting or throwing a ball at home
Follow-up Activity:
Teach a family member one skill or rule of Bat Ball

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Use softer balls or smaller bats for beginners
Provide peer or visual support
