Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher sings a short Christmas carol with learners (“Away in a Manger”) and asks: “Do you know whose birth we celebrate at Christmas?”

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Explanation & Activities:
The teacher begins by narrating the story of Jesus’ birth in simple, age-appropriate language:

  • Mary and Joseph traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem because of the census.
  • When they arrived, there was no room in the inn, so Jesus was born in a manger (a place where animals eat).
  • Angels appeared to shepherds in the fields, telling them the good news that the Savior was born.
  • Shepherds visited the newborn Jesus, bringing joy and sharing the news.
  • Wise men (Magi) came from afar, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to honor Him.
  • The teacher explains the significance of Jesus’ birth: it brought hope, love, and salvation to the world.

The teacher shows pictures or charts to illustrate:

  • Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem
  • The manger scene with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
  • Angels appearing to shepherds
  • Shepherds visiting the baby
  • Wise men bringing gifts

Practical Activity:

  • Learners act out the nativity story, taking turns to be Mary, Joseph, angels, shepherds, and wise men.
  • Learners identify characters in pictures (Mary, Joseph, shepherds, angels, wise men).
  • Learners repeat key points after the teacher to reinforce understanding.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Learners role-play the journey to Bethlehem, the birth, the shepherds, and the visit of the wise men.
  • Learners point to or name characters in the teacher’s pictures.
  • Learners repeat after the teacher:
    • “Jesus was born in Bethlehem.”
    • “He was born in a manger.”
    • “Angels told shepherds the good news.”
    • “Wise men brought gifts.”
  • Learners discuss why Jesus’ birth is special and important.

Assessment Checks:
The teacher checks learners’ understanding by asking:

  1. Who were Jesus’ parents on earth?
  2. Where was Jesus born?
  3. Who told the shepherds the good news?
  4. Who brought gifts to Jesus?
  5. Why is Jesus’ birth important?

The teacher observes learners’ role-plays and listens to their responses to ensure comprehension.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):
