Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks: “What rules do we follow in class?” “Who do we greet at home?”

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Explanation & Activities:
The teacher begins by explaining that a law is a rule that guides us to do what is right and keeps everyone safe. Respect means honoring and treating others kindly, including parents, teachers, elders, and community leaders.

The teacher gives practical examples:

  • Greeting parents, teachers, and elders politely
  • Listening to teachers in class and following instructions
  • Obeying elders and community rules
  • Following simple road safety rules, such as looking both ways before crossing
  • Helping younger children and treating classmates kindly

The teacher explains the importance of laws and respect:

  • Laws keep us safe and help everyone live together peacefully
  • Respect makes people feel happy and valued
  • Respect and law help families, schools, and communities to work well

Practical Activity:

  • Learners list rules they follow at home (e.g., brushing teeth, cleaning their room) and in school (e.g., raising hands to speak, walking quietly in class).
  • Learners demonstrate respect through greeting teachers, parents, and peers politely.
  • Learners role-play crossing the road safely, taking turns and looking both ways before stepping forward.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Learners mention three rules at home and three rules at school aloud.
  • Learners practice greeting and showing respect to classmates and teachers through polite words and gestures.
  • Learners participate in a role-play activity on following rules and demonstrating respect in different situations.
  • Learners repeat after the teacher:
    • “Respect makes people happy.”
    • “Following rules keeps us safe.”

Assessment Checks:
The teacher checks learners’ understanding by asking:

  1. What is a law?
  2. Give one example of respect.
  3. Why are rules important?
  4. Name one place where we must follow rules (home, school, community).
  5. Show one way you can demonstrate respect at school.

The teacher observes learners’ role plays and listens to their responses.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Law means rules that guide us to do what is right.
  • Respect means honoring parents, teachers, elders, and leaders.
  • Obeying rules keeps us safe and ensures peace at home, school, and in the community.
  • Showing respect makes others happy and encourages good relationships.
  • Following laws and showing respect helps communities function well and teaches us responsibility.

Assignment (For Learners):

  1. Draw two rules you follow at home and two rules at school.
  2. Practice greeting a parent, teacher, or elder politely every day this week.
  3. Discuss with your parents one way to show respect in the community and try it.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Laws are rules, respect means honoring others. Both keep peace in family and community.

Exit slip: Learners will say one law at home or school. Teacher provides oral correction.
Assignment (Expanded):
Write or draw one way you show respect in your family.
Follow-up Activity:
Learners should greet and thank someone at home today.
