Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks learners to look in the mirror and say one good thing about themselves.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Explanation & Activities:
The teacher begins by explaining that self-esteem means knowing that you are important and special because God made you. It is feeling good about yourself and believing that you can do things well.

The teacher gives practical examples of good self-esteem:

  • Saying, “I can do it,” when trying a new activity
  • Saying, “I am kind,” after helping a friend
  • Saying, “I am smart,” when learning something new

The teacher also explains that negative words can hurt our feelings and make us feel bad. Examples of negative words include: “I am foolish,” “I cannot do anything,” or “I am not good enough.”

Practical Activity:

  • Learners practice saying positive words about themselves and about others.
  • The teacher models by saying, “I am helpful,” and asks learners to repeat it.
  • The teacher encourages learners to encourage each other with kind words.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Learners say one good thing about themselves aloud (e.g., “I am helpful,” “I am kind”).
  • Learners draw a picture of themselves doing something they like (e.g., playing, helping, reading).
  • Learners repeat positive statements together, such as:
    • “I can do it.”
    • “I am special.”
    • “I am helpful.”
  • Learners share their drawings and explain why they are proud of themselves.

Assessment Checks:
The teacher checks learners’ understanding by asking:

  1. What is self-esteem?
  2. Mention one positive word about yourself.
  3. Why must we avoid negative words?
  4. Give one example of encouraging a friend with kind words.

The teacher observes learners’ participation and listens to their responses.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Self-esteem is knowing that you are special, important, and capable because God made you.
  • Positive words make us feel good about ourselves and help others feel good too.
  • Negative words can hurt our feelings and lower our confidence.
  • We should encourage ourselves and others with kind, positive words.
  • God made everyone special, and we should appreciate our gifts and talents.

Assignment (For Learners):

  1. Draw yourself doing something you like and write one positive word about yourself.
  2. Practice saying aloud three positive statements about yourself and three about a friend.
  3. Tell a family member one way you can show self-esteem at home or school this week.
