Lesson Development – ABC Model

A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks, “Who is the Creator?” and reviews last week’s lesson. Then introduces today’s topic: how God created heaven and earth.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Explanation & Activities:
The teacher explains the story of creation from Genesis 1:

  • Day 1: God said, “Let there be light,” and light appeared. God separated the light from the darkness. He called the light Day and the darkness Night.
  • Day 2: God made the sky. He placed the sky to separate the waters above (clouds, rain) and the waters below (rivers, seas). He called the sky Heaven.

The teacher shows charts and pictures of:

  • Day and night (a picture of the sun shining, and another of the moon and stars at night)
  • The sky with clouds and the blue heavens above
  • Water bodies such as seas, rivers, and rain

The teacher explains in simple words that heaven is above us, the earth is where we live, and God made both.

Practical Activity:
The teacher takes the learners outside. Together, they look up at the sky and point to the ground/earth. The teacher says: “This is the sky God made. This is the earth where we live.”
The teacher leads the learners to say together:

  • Day 1 – Light and Darkness
  • Day 2 – Sky and Waters

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Learners draw the sky in blue and the earth in green or brown using crayons or pencils.
  • Learners go outside and point at the sky and then the ground.
  • Learners repeat the key creation lessons after the teacher: “Day 1 – Light and Darkness.” “Day 2 – Sky and Waters.”
  • Learners listen to the teacher’s story from Genesis 1 and answer simple questions during the lesson.

Assessment Checks:
The teacher checks learners’ understanding with these questions:

  1. What did God create on Day 1?
  2. What did God create on Day 2?
  3. Can you show me the sky? Can you show me the ground?
  4. Draw the sky and the earth in your book.

The teacher observes learners’ drawings and listens to their answers.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
  • On Day 1, He created light and darkness. He called the light Day and the darkness Night.
  • On Day 2, God made the sky and separated the waters. He called the sky Heaven.
  • Everything God created was good.

Assignment (For Learners):

  1. Draw and color two pictures: one for Day (light) and one for Night (darkness with stars).
  2. Ask your parents to help you name three things you can see in the sky and three things you can see on the earth.
  3. Practice saying aloud: “Day 1 – Light and Darkness. Day 2 – Sky and Waters.”

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: God created heaven and earth. On Day 1, He made light and darkness. On Day 2, He made the sky and separated waters.

Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Students will draw either the sky or the earth and label it. Teacher will collect and provide oral feedback.

Assignment (Expanded):
Students should look at the sky at home and tell their parents what God made on Day 1 and Day 2.

Follow-up Activity:
Sing a song about God’s creation of heaven and earth with family members.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Provide extra support for pupils who cannot draw by allowing them to identify sky and earth in pictures.
