Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks: “Can only boys go to school? Can only girls learn to read?” Learners respond with answers.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Definition of Equality:
Equality means that boys and girls should have the same opportunities to learn, play, and succeed. Everyone should be treated fairly and have a chance to do the same things.

Advantages of Equality:

  • More Knowledge: Both boys and girls can learn new things and become smart.
  • Better Jobs in the Future: Learning equally helps both boys and girls grow up to do different jobs.
  • Balanced Homes: When everyone shares responsibilities, the home runs smoothly.
  • Stronger Families: Families are happier and stronger when everyone contributes and is respected.

Reflection on Family Responsibilities:

  • Boys and girls should share household chores, like cleaning, cooking, and helping siblings.
  • Recap of Weeks 1–4:
    • Family types: nuclear, single-parent, extended
    • Gender roles: boys’ and girls’ responsibilities, shared tasks
    • Relationships: love, care, friendship
    • Inclusion: supporting people with disabilities

Practical Activity:

  1. Teacher demonstrates a role-play: a boy and girl going to school together, both answering questions, helping each other, and sharing tasks.
  2. Learners take turns role-playing boys and girls attending school, helping each other, or doing household tasks together.
  3. Class discusses what they observed and how equality helps everyone.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Discuss in pairs why boys and girls should both attend school.
  • Share examples of how they help at home and in school.
  • Summarize lessons learned from Weeks 1–4: family types, gender roles, relationships, and inclusion.
  • Draw a picture showing boys and girls helping together at home or school.

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to mention one advantage of equality.
  • Ask learners to name one role of family members they have learned.
  • Observe learners during role-play to see understanding of shared responsibilities and cooperation.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Equality builds stronger families and communities.
  • Both boys and girls are important and should share responsibilities and opportunities.
  • Encouraging equality at home and school teaches respect, teamwork, and fairness.
  • Reinforce that learning, helping, and playing together benefits everyone in the family and community.
  • Highlight real-life examples: “Your sister can help you read, and your brother can help sweep the floor—both are equally important.”

Example Questions for Learners:

  1. “Why should both boys and girls go to school?”
  2. “Name one household task boys and girls can share.”
  3. “How does equality make families stronger?”

Assignment:

  • Draw a picture of boys and girls learning or helping together at home.
  • Write one sentence about why equality is important in school or at home.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Equal opportunities help everyone to grow. Boys and girls should share responsibilities and work together.

Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Students write or draw one benefit of boys and girls going to school.

Assignment (Expanded):
Learners will ask their parents why both boys and girls should go to school and share their answers in class.

Follow-up Activity:
Prepare learners for Week 6 assessment on family, gender roles, relationships, and inclusion.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Support weaker learners with oral responses and peer assistance. Encourage drawing instead of writing for struggling learners.
