Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks: “How did you come to school today? Why are you in school?”

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Education:

  • Education helps people learn, gain knowledge, and prepare for the future.
  • Schools and teachers play a big role in teaching reading, writing, math, and other skills.
  • Education is a basic need everywhere in Liberia and West Africa.

Communication:

  • Communication is sharing ideas, news, or messages with others.
  • Tools for communication include: letters, radios, phones, and the internet.
  • Communication helps people stay connected and work together.

Transportation:

  • Transportation is how people and goods move from one place to another.
  • Examples include: bicycles, cars, boats, buses, motorcycles, and walking.
  • Transportation is important for school, work, and trade.

Demonstration:

  • Teacher shows pictures of schools, teachers, phones, letters, bicycles, cars, and boats.
  • Explain how each tool or method is used in daily life.

Practical Activities:

  1. Learners identify communication tools used at home and school.
  2. Learners role-play sending a message to a friend or teacher (e.g., writing a letter, speaking on a pretend phone).
  3. Learners describe how they come to school (walk, bicycle, car, bus).
  4. Draw a picture showing one mode of transport, a communication tool, and their school.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Discuss why they go to school and what they learn.
  • Show and describe how messages are sent using different tools.
  • Explain how they move from home to school and back.
  • Share experiences of traveling to different places in the community.
