Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher will ask learners to close their eyes and try to walk without bumping into anything. After a few seconds, teacher asks: “Was it easy or difficult?”

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Definition of Disability:
A disability is when a person has difficulty seeing, hearing, walking, or doing certain activities easily. Disabilities do not mean a person cannot learn, play, or contribute—they just need support and understanding.

Issues Faced by People with Disabilities:

  • Difficulty moving around or performing physical tasks.
  • Difficulty learning certain things in school.
  • Being left out of games, family activities, or group work.
  • Facing unkind words or teasing from others.

Support for People with Disabilities:

  • Offering help when needed (e.g., carrying something, guiding them).
  • Being patient and understanding.
  • Including them in play, school activities, and family tasks.
  • Showing kindness and respect.
  • Encouraging their participation in learning and social activities.

Practical Activity:

  1. Teacher demonstrates inclusion: inviting a child to role-play helping a classmate “using” a pretend crutch.
  2. Learners take turns practicing helping someone with a disability safely.
  3. Discuss how small acts of help make people feel included and respected.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Act out scenarios helping someone with a disability (e.g., guiding, sharing toys, assisting with tasks).
  • Share ideas on ways to include peers or family members with disabilities in games and household activities.
  • Reflect verbally: “What can I do to make a friend with a disability feel happy and included?”
  • Draw a picture showing an act of kindness to a person with a disability.

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to explain one challenge faced by people with disabilities.
  • Ask learners to describe one way to help or include someone with a disability.
  • Observe learners during practical activities to ensure understanding and safe practices.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • A disability is not inability; everyone can contribute in some way.
  • Families and communities should support all members, regardless of abilities.
  • Kindness, patience, and inclusion help people with disabilities feel valued and confident.
  • Encouraging participation teaches empathy, responsibility, and respect among all learners.
  • Positive attitudes at home and school help prevent bullying and exclusion.

Example Questions for Learners:

  1. “Can a person with a disability play games with friends?”
  2. “Name one way you can help someone who has difficulty walking.”
  3. “Why is it important to include everyone, even if they have a disability?”

Assignment:

  • Draw a picture of a way you helped or can help someone with a disability.
  • Write one sentence about why it is good to include everyone in play or family activities.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: We should support and include people with disabilities in family and community life.

Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Students draw or tell one way to support a family member with a disability.

Assignment (Expanded):
Learners will ask their parents how they can show kindness to people with disabilities in their neighborhood.

Follow-up Activity:
Next lesson will focus on equality in opportunities for both boys and girls.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Pair learners with weaker peers for role-play. Use visual aids for learners who struggle with abstract explanations.
