Starter Questions:

  • Where is your bag? (on the table, under the desk, beside the chair)
  • What are the words that show the position of things?

Think-Pair-Share:

  • Think: Write two sentences using "on" and "under."
  • Pair: Swap and underline the prepositions.
  • Share: Class highlights different prepositions used.

 

B – Building Knowledge (Core Content)

  1. Definition of Prepositions:
  • Words that show relationships between nouns or pronouns and other words.
  • Examples: on, in, under, behind, during, after
  1. Prepositional Phrases:
  • A group of words starting with a preposition and ending with a noun or pronoun (object).
  • Examples:
    • in the room
    • under the table
    • after school
  1. Types of Prepositions:
  • Prepositions of place: in, on, at, under
  • Prepositions of time: before, after, during
  • Prepositions of direction: into, out of, across
  1. Sentence Examples:
  • The cat is under the table.
  • We went to the market after school.

 

C – Consolidation (Application and Reflection)

Class Activities:

  1. Fill-in-the-blank worksheet using prepositions.
  2. Create a sentence map showing a person moving "through," "into," and "across" rooms.
  3. Group sentence construction using location-based classroom props.

Assignment:

  1. Write 8 sentences using different prepositional phrases.
  2. Underline the prepositional phrase and circle the preposition.
