Lesson Development – ABC Model

A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)

Time: 5–10 minutes
Activity:

  • Quick game: Verb Relay - Students match infinitive verbs with their English meanings and assign to the right group.

Teacher’s Role:

  • Organize students into small groups.
  • Explain the rules of the game and monitor progress.

Learner’s Role:

  • Participate actively in the matching activity.
  • Recall and revise verb groups.

 

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Role:

  • Teach conjugation rules for regular verbs:
    • ER verbs: e.g., parler → je parle, tu parles, il/elle parle
    • IR verbs: e.g., finir → je finis, tu finis, il/elle finit
    • RE verbs: e.g., vendre → je vends, tu vends, il/elle vend
  • Teach irregular OIR verbs:
    • Examples: vouloir (to want), pouvoir (to be able to), voir (to see)
    • je veux, tu peux, il voit
  • Provide pronunciation audio.
  • Write several example sentences on the board.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Conjugate sample verbs orally and in writing.
  • Complete a fill-in-the-blank worksheet using correct conjugated forms.
  • Create 3 original present tense sentences using verbs from each group.

Assessment Checks:
