Previous Knowledge:

Learners have discussed the definition and importance of personal hygiene.

 

Instructional Materials:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Soap, sponge, and towel
  • Chart showing steps in bathing and brushing teeth
  • Visuals of good vs. poor hygiene

Anticipation (Warm-Up) – 5 minutes:

Ask:

  • What do you use to clean your body?
  • How often should we bathe?

Activity:

  • Show pictures of two students: one neat and one untidy. Ask learners which one looks healthy and why.

 

Building Knowledge (Main Lesson) – 25 minutes

General Body Cleanliness:

  • Includes daily bathing, oral care, wearing clean clothes, and trimming nails.
  • Helps remove dirt, sweat, and germs.

Bathing Properly:

  • Use clean water and soap
  • Scrub all body parts, including armpits, behind ears, feet
  • Use a clean towel
  • Bathe at least once a day, more if you play sports

Oral Hygiene:

  • Brush teeth twice daily
  • Use fluoride toothpaste
  • Clean the tongue and rinse mouth
  • Replace toothbrush every 3 months
  • Avoid sugary snacks and drinks

Consequences of Poor Hygiene:

  • Body odor, tooth decay, infections
  • Low self-esteem
  • Poor sports performance
  • Spreading illness to teammates

 

Learners’ Activities:

  • Demonstrate tooth brushing using a model or real toothbrush
  • Draw and label a hygiene kit
  • List 5 body parts that must be cleaned thoroughly during bathing
  • Group work: prepare a hygiene checklist

 

Consolidation (Review and Assessment) – 10 minutes
