Anticipation (Warm-Up): Rub a balloon on hair and stick it to a wall. Ask: "What made it stick? Is it magic or science?"

  • Electric Charge: Property of matter that causes it to experience a force in an electric field.
  • Types: Positive and Negative charges
    • Like charges repel; unlike charges attract.
  • Conductors: Materials that allow charge flow easily (e.g., copper, aluminum)
  • Insulators: Materials that resist charge flow (e.g., rubber, glass)

Experiment:

  • Rub a glass rod with silk and bring it near a hanging paper strip. Observe attraction.

  • Use electroscope to detect charge.
