  2. Identify and correct verb errors in peer writing.
  3. Develop a comprehensive book report using accurate verb usage.

A – Anticipation (Engage learners):
Starter Questions:

  • Why is verb consistency important in writing?

Think-Pair-Share:
Think: Recall any confusing verb use you’ve seen or written.
Pair: Discuss it with a partner and decide the correct form.
Share: Share with the class what you learned from the correction.

B – Building Knowledge (Core Content):

  1. Verb Review:
    • Quick recap of: base, s-form, -ing form, past, and past participle.
    • Tense review: simple, progressive, perfect.
  2. Common Verb Usage Errors:
    • Switching tenses mid-sentence or mid-paragraph.
    • Using present instead of past in reports.
    • Forgetting subject-verb agreement in complex sentences.
  3. Book Report Grammar:
    • Ensure use of past tense for plot events.
    • Use present tense for character traits and general facts.
