Lesson Development – ABC Model

Activity:

  • Show images of marketplaces, ports, and cargo ships.

    • Definition: Exchange of goods and services for money or other goods.
    • Types of Trade:
      • Internal (Domestic) Trade: Trade within a country (e.g., selling cassava in Monrovia).
      • External (International) Trade: Trade between countries (e.g., export of rubber to Europe).
    • Activity: Students classify given examples of trade as internal or external.
  2. Transport:
    • Definition: Movement of goods and people from one place to another.
    • Importance: Facilitates trade, industrial development, communication, and access to markets.
    • Activity: Students discuss the role of transport in linking rural producers to urban markets.
  3. Means of Transport:
    • Road Transport: Trucks, buses, motorbikes; suitable for short/medium distances.
    • Rail Transport: Trains for bulk goods; economical over long distances.
    • Water Transport: Ships, boats; important for international trade.
    • Air Transport: Airplanes; fast, suitable for perishable goods.
    • Pipeline Transport: For liquids like oil and gas.
    • Activity: Students match types of goods with suitable transport means.
