  1. P – Probe (5–10 min)

Purpose: Activate prior knowledge and spark curiosity.

  • Teacher reads from Stanza I: “In the whispers of Your call, so clear, / You beckon me, to draw near.”
  • Discussion questions:
    • “What comes to your mind when you hear ‘God’s call’?”
    • “Have you ever needed courage to take a step of faith or decision?”
  • Students predict what challenges and victories the poem might present.

Teacher’s Role: Note key student responses and link them to the theme of courage.

  1. E – Explore (15–20 min)

Purpose: Engage with the poem actively.

  • Students read selected stanzas (I, II, IV, VII).
  • Group activities:
    • Group A: Identify and discuss imagery of courage in Stanza I.
    • Group B: Analyze faith and resilience in Stanza II & VI.
    • Group C: Explore courage to stand in Stanza VII.
  • Students annotate metaphors and symbols (e.g., battles, storms, providence, visions).

Student Activity: Role-play a scene where a character must choose between fear and courage.

  1. A – Analyze & Question (15–20 min)

Purpose: Develop critical thinking.

  • Guiding questions:
  1. Why does the poet link courage with faith, resilience, and providence?
  2. How does the structure (call → journey → trials → courage → legacy) reinforce the theme?
  3. What do the metaphors of “storms,” “battles,” and “visions” symbolize in the believer’s walk?
  • Mini-task: Compare Stanza V (Strength in Weakness) and Stanza VI (Resilience in Trials). How do they build on one another?

  1. R – Reflect & Relate (10–15 min)

Purpose: Connect to personal, social, or global contexts.

  • Reflection prompts:
    • “What personal challenges have required you to embrace courage?”
    • “What global issues today (e.g., standing for justice, faith under persecution) connect to this theme?”
  • Creative response options:
    • Journal: Write about a time you stepped out in courage.
    • Artwork: Draw a symbol that represents courage in God’s call.
    • Dialogue: Compose a short script between “Fear” and “Faith.”

  1. L – Link & Extend (5–10 min)

Purpose: Consolidate and extend.

  • Teacher summarizes: God’s call requires courage, faith, resilience, and boldness.
  • Extension tasks:
    • Comparative essay: Courage in Adejoke Ajeyomi’s poem vs. a biblical/literary figure (e.g., Esther, David, Martin Luther King Jr.).
    • Create a “Courage Board” with quotes/images from the poem.
    • Oral presentation: “The role of courage in fulfilling destiny.”
