Read a short sample story aloud. Students identify the five narrative parts and list the verbs used in each segment. Emphasize the shift in tense (e.g., from past perfect in exposition to past simple in action).

Good writing maintains tense consistency unless a shift in time is necessary.
Examples:
✅ She had planned to leave early, but she missed the train.
❌ She had planned to leave early, but she misses the train.
Task:
Students correct the verb tenses in a paragraph with intentional errors.
Example:
Original: I walked into the room and see the dog. It barked loudly and jump on me.
