  2. Demonstrate proper use of vocabulary, spelling, and punctuation.
  3. Manage time effectively across comprehension, essay, and objective tasks.

 

A – Anticipation (Engage Learners):

Opening Questions:

  • “How confident do you feel about doing all three grammar sections in one sitting?”
  • “What strategies help you manage your time during long tests?”

Quick Drill:

  • Give students 5 grammar objectives, a short 1-paragraph comprehension, and a 2-sentence essay prompt. They complete these in 10 minutes to simulate time management.

 

B – Building Knowledge (Core Content):

  1. Mixed Objective Review (Paper 1)

Mini-Lesson:

  • Review 5 common tricky areas:
    • Concord
    • Tenses
    • Confusing word pairs
    • Punctuation
    • Sentence correction

Class Drill:

  • Students answer 10 selected WASSCE Paper 1 questions, then self-grade with answer key and discuss tricky ones.
  1. Mini Comprehension and Summary (Paper 3)

Mini-Lesson:

  • Emphasize reading speed, highlighting main ideas, and summarizing in one’s own words.

Practice Activity:

  • One short comprehension passage with 3 questions + 1 summary (3 points max).

Peer Assessment:

  • Exchange answers and check for clarity and completeness.
  1. Essay & Letter Planning (Paper 2)

Mini-Lesson:

  • Focus on clear paragraphing, hooks, transitions, and conclusions.

Task:

  • Choose 1 WASSCE essay or letter question.
    • Plan an outline (Intro, Points, Conclusion)
    • Write only the opening paragraph and conclusion.

Partner Feedback:

  • Read each other’s paragraphs, give comments on structure and coherence.

 

C – Consolidation (Application and Reflection):

Mock Exam Practice (Timed – 40 minutes):

  • Objective Section (10 questions – 10 mins)
  • Comprehension/Summary Section (15 mins)
  • Essay or Letter Prompt Planning + Introduction (15 mins)

Self-Reflection Sheet:

  • What was the hardest section?
  • Did you complete all on time?
  • Where do you need more review?

Homework:

  1. Mixed Paper Revision Pack:
    • Complete a full 30-question grammar objective section.
    • Do a full comprehension passage and summary.
    • Write a complete letter or essay.
