Starter Questions:
- What is the difference between saying “I worked” and “I have worked”?
- Can we say “I have been working all day”? What does that mean?
Think-Pair-Share Activity: Students pair up and compare these two:
- She has lived in Monrovia since 2010.
- She lived in Monrovia in 2010.
Each pair identifies the differences in time implication.
B – Building Knowledge (Core Content):
- Present Perfect Tense: Structure: has/have + past participle
- Used to show an action that occurred at an unspecified time in the past and may still be relevant.
- Example: I have completed the assignment.
- Present Perfect Progressive Tense: Structure: has/have been + present participle (-ing)
- Describes actions that began in the past and are still ongoing or have recently stopped.
- Example: They have been studying for three hours.

- Incorrect: She have gone to school.
- Correct: She has gone to school.
C – Consolidation (Application and Reflection):
Class Activity:
- Students rewrite 5 past simple sentences into present perfect and present perfect progressive. Example:
- Past: He washed the car.

- Present Perfect Progressive: He has been washing the car.
