  1. P – Probe (5–10 min)

Purpose: Activate prior knowledge and spark curiosity.

  • Begin with a reading of a single stanza, e.g., “In the call to unity, so clear, You gather us, Your love so near…”
  • Ask probing questions:
    • “Why is unity important in a community?”
    • “How can diversity strengthen or challenge a group?”
  • Encourage students to predict the poem’s theme and the poet’s intent.
Teacher’s Role: Facilitate discussion and record key ideas.

  1. E – Explore (15–20 min)

Purpose: Engage with the text actively.

  • Students read selected stanzas aloud, e.g., Stanzas I, II, IV, V, and X.
  • Focus on key literary elements: theme, imagery, symbolism, tone, and message of community and unity.
  • Methods:
    • Think-Pair-Share: Discuss the symbolism of diversity, fellowship, and accountability.
    • Annotation: Highlight metaphors (e.g., “Symphony of Unity”), motifs (unity, love, service), and tone (uplifting, communal).
    • Role-play: Act out scenarios like “support in trials” or “encouragement shared.”
Student Activity: Annotate text, identify literary devices, and discuss interpretations in pairs/groups.

  1. A – Analyze & Question (15–20 min)

Purpose: Develop critical thinking and deeper understanding.

  • Pose higher-order questions:
    • How does the poet convey the importance of unity in God’s kingdom?
    • What literary techniques reinforce the message of community?
    • How does diversity enhance the strength of the community in the poem?
  • Mini analytical tasks:
    • Identify recurring motifs of unity, love, service, and support.
    • Examine the poet’s use of imagery and repetition for emphasis.
Teacher’s Role: Scaffold interpretations, explain literary devices, and guide textual analysis.

  1. R – Reflect & Relate (10–15 min)

Purpose: Connect literature to personal, social, or global contexts.

  • Students reflect in writing:
    • “Which stanza inspires you most to contribute to your community and why?”
    • “How does unity in your own environment reflect the poem’s message?”
  • Creative response options:
    • Draw a symbolic illustration of unity in community.
    • Compose a short dialogue showing the impact of accountability, encouragement, or fellowship.

  1. L – Link & Extend (5–10 min)

Purpose: Consolidate learning and extend thinking beyond the lesson.

  • Summarize key points: unity, fellowship, diversity, love, accountability, and kingdom vision.
  • Assign extension tasks:
    • Comparative essay with another poem or text on community or fellowship.
    • Create a social media profile for a character inspired by communal values.
    • Prepare a short oral presentation analyzing a symbol or motif of unity.
