  1. P – Probe (5–10 min)

Purpose: Activate prior knowledge and spark curiosity.

  • Begin with a short reading of “In the stillness of the morning light, Where hearts awaken to a brand-new day…”
  • Ask probing questions:
    • “What does it mean to express God’s love through actions?”
    • “Which stanzas in the poem show love in action?”
  • Encourage predictions on themes such as compassion, forgiveness, generosity, and encouragement.
Teacher’s Role: Facilitate discussion and note key ideas.

  1. E – Explore (15–20 min)

Purpose: Engage with the text actively.

  • Students read selected stanzas aloud (e.g., Stanzas I, II, IV, V, VII, VIII, X).
  • Focus on literary elements: theme, imagery, symbolism, tone, and moral lesson.
  • Methods:
    • Think-Pair-Share: Discuss imagery such as “the light of encouragement” or “legacy of love.”
    • Annotation: Highlight metaphors and motifs of love, compassion, patience, and reconciliation.
    • Role-play: Act out scenes of forgiveness, reconciliation, or generosity.
Student Activity: Annotate text, identify literary devices, and discuss interpretations in pairs/groups.

  1. A – Analyze & Question (15–20 min)

Purpose: Develop critical thinking and deeper understanding.

  • Pose higher-order questions:
    • How does the poet depict God’s love as both personal and communal?
    • Which literary devices best convey the message of love in action?
    • How does repetition or imagery reinforce the poem’s theme?
  • Mini analytical tasks:
    • Identify and explain stanzas that illustrate active expressions of love.
    • Examine the use of contrasts such as trials vs. victories, and pain vs. healing.
Teacher’s Role: Scaffold analysis, clarify literary techniques, and guide interpretation.

  1. R – Reflect & Relate (10–15 min)

Purpose: Connect literature to personal, social, or global contexts.

  • Students reflect on:
    • “How can I express God’s love in my daily life?”
    • “Which stanza resonates most with your experiences of giving or receiving love?”
  • Creative response options:
    • Sketch a symbolic representation of love expressed through acts of kindness.
    • Compose a short dialogue showing forgiveness, encouragement, or reconciliation.

  1. L – Link & Extend (5–10 min)

Purpose: Consolidate learning and extend thinking beyond the lesson.

  • Summarize key points: love, compassion, forgiveness, patience, encouragement, reconciliation, and legacy.
  • Assign extension tasks:
    • Comparative essay with another poem on expressing love.
    • Create a social media profile for a character inspired by active love.
    • Prepare a short oral presentation analyzing a motif of God’s love in action.
