Instructional Materials
Mathematics textbook for Grade 2

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher plays a quick “mental math” game with pupils, solving rapid addition and subtraction questions.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Review all topics from Weeks 13–16:
Addition of three or more two-digit numbers without regrouping
Subtraction of two-digit numbers without regrouping
Equality and inequality signs (=, <, >)
Using addition/subtraction in population data

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):
Group quiz competition where teams solve problems from all topics
Peer teaching in revision circles
Worksheet with mixed addition, subtraction, equality, and word problems

Assessment Checks:
Solve 24 + 15 + 21
Fill in the blank: 13 + 5 ___ 20
If class has 40 pupils and 18 are boys, how many are girls?

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):
Review helps strengthen memory and prepare learners for assessment. Integration of real-life data makes learning meaningful.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Pupils recap all concepts learned during the period by sharing answers and correcting errors.

Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Solve 45 – 22 and write whether 18 + 5 ___ 25.
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback.

Assignment (Expanded):
Solve worksheet covering addition, subtraction, equality/inequality, and population problems.

Follow-up Activity:
Students practice with parents: create family word problems for addition and subtraction.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Encourage group participation. Provide oral questioning for learners struggling with written work.
