Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Week & Period: Week 8, Period 2
Topic: Roles of Body Parts
Sub-topic: Functions of major body parts in daily life and games
Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. State the functions of major body parts such as the eyes, ears, hands, and legs.
  2. Give examples of how body parts help in daily activities.
  3. Participate in a body part action game.

Previous Knowledge
Students already know the names of some body parts.
Instructional Materials
Charts showing body parts, flashcards with names, pictures of children playing.
Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher claps and asks learners: “Which body part do we use to clap? Which body part do we use to see?” Learners respond. Teacher sings a quick rhyme: “Eyes can see, ears can hear…” while learners point to their body parts.
B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Explanation:

  • Each body part has a specific role:
    • Eyes: Help us see
    • Ears: Help us hear
    • Hands: Help us hold, carry, clap, write, or throw
    • Legs: Help us walk, run, jump, and play games
  • Importance: Every body part works together to help us in school, at home, and during play.

Examples:

  • We use eyes to read books or see the board in class.
  • We use ears to listen to teachers, friends, and instructions.
  • We use hands to write, hold objects, clap, or catch a ball.
  • We use legs to walk to school, run in games, or kick a ball.

Demonstration:

  • Teacher shows flashcards with pictures of body parts performing actions (e.g., eyes reading, hands clapping).
  • Ask learners to identify the body part and explain its function.
  • Emphasize safe and proper use of hands and legs during activities.

Practical Activity:

  • Body Part Action Game:
    • Teacher calls out a body part:
      • “Hands!” → learners clap hands
      • “Legs!” → learners jump
      • “Ears!” → learners cup their ears
      • “Eyes!” → learners point to their eyes or pretend to read
  • Repeat several times, increasing speed for fun and engagement.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Listen carefully and point to or act out the correct body part.
  • Give examples of how they use each body part in daily life or games.
  • Participate actively in the Body Part Action Game and follow instructions quickly.
  • Share briefly: “What do you use your hands for at home or school?”

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners:
    • “What do we use our ears for?”
    • “What do we use our legs for?”
    • “Give one example of how you use your hands in games.”
  • Observe learners as they perform actions in the Body Part Action Game, checking accuracy and participation.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Every body part has a role and they work together to help us perform tasks.
  • Eyes help us see and learn, ears help us listen and follow instructions, hands help us hold, write, clap, and manipulate objects, legs help us walk, run, and play.
  • Understanding the role of each body part improves coordination, safety, and effective participation in games and daily activities.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Teacher revises functions of major body parts and their examples with learners.
Evaluation Method (Expanded): Exit slip/quiz: Each learner says one body part and its function before leaving. Teacher provides oral feedback.
Assignment (Expanded): At home, write or tell your parent two things your hands help you do.
Follow-up Activity: Play the body part game with a friend or sibling.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Teacher uses songs and actions for learners with difficulty remembering. Peer support is given in pair work.
