Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Ask learners to recall a time when someone kept or broke a promise. Discuss how it made them feel.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Teacher’s Explanation & Activities:
The teacher explains the consequences of keeping and breaking promises using stories from the Bible (e.g., Noah, Joseph) and daily life examples. Learners are guided to understand that:

  • Keeping promises leads to trust, respect, and blessings.
  • Breaking promises leads to disappointment, loss of trust, and unhappiness.

Practical Activity: Conduct role-plays illustrating promises kept to God, family, friends, and the community. Discuss the outcomes of each scenario and link them to real-life situations. Reinforce the moral lessons throughout.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Act out scenarios of keeping and breaking promises in class.
  • Share personal experiences of times they kept or broke a promise.
  • Work in pairs or small groups to discuss ways to handle promises responsibly.
  • Repeat key phrases: “Promises kept bring trust and joy” and “Breaking promises can hurt others.”

Assessment Checks:

  • Observe learners during role-plays and group discussions for comprehension and participation.
  • Ask learners to give one example of a promise they will keep this week, and how they plan to do it.
  • Discuss how keeping promises affects relationships at home, school, and in the community.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Emphasize trust, responsibility, and moral integrity as core values in keeping promises.
  • Highlight that promises are not only words but commitments that affect relationships and character.
  • Use stories from scripture and everyday life to illustrate the importance of fulfilling promises.

Assignment (For Learners):

  • Draw a picture showing someone keeping a promise.
  • Write or narrate a promise they will keep to God, a family member, or a friend this week.
  • Practice saying aloud: “I will keep my promises and act responsibly every day.”
