Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks learners: “Can you name a special gift you received and how it made you feel?” Link this to Jesus being God’s gift to the world.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Content/Explanation:

  • Begin by explaining that Jesus is the Son of God, a teacher, and a guide who came to bring hope, love, and salvation to the world.
  • Tell the story of Jesus’ birth (Nativity) in simple, age-appropriate terms. Use storytelling techniques with gestures, expressions, and pauses to engage learners.
  • Use picture cards showing Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, angels, and shepherds to help learners visualize the story. Explain each character’s role in the Nativity scene.
  • Discuss the significance of Jesus’ birth, emphasizing that His coming brought hope, love, and joy to the world. Explain that His birth is celebrated because Jesus is a gift from God to all people.
  • Conduct a role-play of the Nativity scene: assign learners roles as Mary, Joseph, angels, shepherds, or animals. Encourage them to act out the events respectfully and creatively.
  • Lead a discussion: ask learners to describe why Jesus’ birth is important and how it inspires kindness, love, and giving today.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Listen attentively to the Nativity story and engage by answering comprehension questions (“Who were Jesus’ parents?” “Who visited Him?”).
  • Participate actively in the role-play, taking turns to play different characters.
  • Answer questions and share ideas during discussion about the significance of Jesus’ birth.
  • Draw a picture of the Nativity scene, labeling characters and illustrating the story in their own words.

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to mention one fact about Jesus’ birth to check understanding.
  • Observe learners’ participation in role-play for engagement, understanding, and respectful behavior.
  • Review learners’ drawings of the Nativity scene to ensure they captured key elements and understood the story.
  • Ask reflective questions: “What can we learn from Jesus’ birth about giving and helping others?”

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Highlight that Jesus’ birth is celebrated because He is a gift from God and brings hope to all people.
  • Emphasize practical lessons learners can take from the story: love, kindness, sharing, and helping others.
  • Encourage learners to reflect on the meaning of giving and receiving gifts, linking it to the idea of God’s gift of Jesus.
  • Suggest learners share their Nativity drawings with family or friends to reinforce storytelling and discussion at home.
