Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Ask learners to share a promise they made to a friend or family member and whether they kept it. Discuss the feelings involved.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Teacher’s Explanation & Activities:
The teacher explains that commitments to others involve keeping promises, being honest, and showing responsibility. Examples include:

  • Helping a friend or sibling when they need assistance.
  • Returning items borrowed from classmates or neighbors.
  • Telling the truth even when it is difficult.
  • Keeping agreements, such as completing a task or attending a meeting.

The teacher narrates short stories illustrating the difference between keeping and breaking promises, emphasizing consequences:

  • A child who shares toys vs. a child who refuses to return them.
  • A friend who tells the truth vs. one who lies and causes misunderstanding.

Practical Activity: Learners participate in role-plays demonstrating both good and bad behavior and discuss the outcomes of each scenario.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Share personal experiences of keeping or breaking promises.
  • Act out scenarios where commitments to family, friends, or classmates are honored or neglected.
  • List examples of actions showing responsibility, kindness, and honesty in relationships.
  • Repeat the key phrase: “I keep my promises to show I care for others.”

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to provide one example of a promise they can keep to a family member today.
  • Observe learners’ role-play performances and group discussions for understanding.
  • Discuss why keeping promises builds trust and friendship.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Reinforce that honesty, kindness, and responsibility are essential in keeping commitments to others.
  • Emphasize that breaking promises can hurt feelings and damage relationships.
  • Encourage learners to practice these behaviors daily with family, friends, and classmates.

Assignment (For Learners):

  • Draw a picture showing an act of keeping a promise at home or school.
  • Write or tell one promise they will keep to a family member or friend this week.
  • Practice saying aloud: “I will be honest, kind, and responsible in keeping my promises.”
